Fairmont High girls basketball state champs honored at city council meeting

KETTERING — A local high school girls basketball team was recently honored at this week’s city council meeting.

The City of Kettering said in a social media post that the Fairmont High School varsity girls basketball team was recognized at Tuesday’s city council meeting.

Kettering City Schools was also involved in honoring the undefeated Division I state champs.

“We watched their highlight video and cheered them on one more time, and the pride in that room was undeniable,” the city said. “An undefeated season and a State Championship are no small feats. You have made your school, your families, your coaches, and the entire Kettering community incredibly proud.”

Fairmont beat Princeton in the Division I state title game on March 14, 61-55, in overtime.

The Lady Firebirds finished the unbeaten season 28-0.
