Police also found a firearm near William.
Annie was pronounced dead at the scene, while William was taken to Kettering Medical Center, where he later died.
During the investigation, detectives were told that William called his daughter to tell her he was picking up his wife from the nursing home she lived at.
He went on to tell his daughter that he killed her and was going to kill himself, prompting their daughter to call 911 immediately.
“This is a tragic situation for this family. Our officers used the upmost care and concern while investigating this incident,” Miami Township Police Chief Adam Nielsen said in a statement. “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and neighbors of the Franklins.”
