Driver injured after being ejected during fiery crash on busy road

MARYSVILLE — A driver was injured after being ejected during a fiery crash in Ohio early Wednesday morning.

The Marysville Police Division said in a social media post that officers responded around 2:10 a.m. to a serious crash on U.S. 33 near the State Route 4 and State Route 31 interchange.

When medics responded, they found a vehicle on fire, according to a police spokesperson.

An initial investigation showed that a male driver was ejected from one of the vehicles during the crash.

“Despite sustaining significant injuries, the driver was alert and communicating with responders at the scene,” the police spokesperson said.

Medics transported him to an area hospital before being transferred to a Columbus hospital.

The westbound lanes of U.S. 33 were closed for several hours, but were reopened after 5:30 a.m.

The driver’s condition is currently unknown.

The crash remains under investigation.
