Man suffers life-threatening injuries after SUV hits pole in Jefferson Twp.

JEFFERSON TWP., Montgomery County — UPDATE @ 2:05 a.m.: A man suffered life-threatening injuries Thursday evening after his SUV struck a utility pole and turned onto its side.

The man was driving a dark green 2003 Chevrolet Blazer east on Dayton-Farmersville Road in Jefferson Twp. when it went off the right side of the roadway into a drainage ditch and struck the Dayton Power & Light pole, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office stated in a release.

A CareFlight medical helicopter was initially called to the scene, but the driver was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.

The driver, whose name was not released, was the only occupant in the crash reported at 5:30 p.m. near the Bridget Avenue intersection.

Dayton-Farmersville Road was blocked at Olt Road while crews handled the wreck, but the road has since reopened.

Dayton-Farmersville Road is shut down at Olt Road after an SUV crashed into a pole in Jefferson Twp.

The crash was reported at 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dayton-Farmersville Road and Bridget Avenue.

The SUV struck a pole, and a CareFlight medical helicopter was called, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

However, the helicopter later was canceled.
