The second fire was called out to the 9500 block of Nicholson Road an hour later.
Miami Valley Fire District Battalion Chief Nick Sanders said both homes were vacant.
Sanders said that he had to split his crew to the second fire.
“When you have to split crews and send half to another structure fire, it makes it that more difficult. Everybody has to work that much harder,” said Sanders.
He said that many other fire departments provided mutual aid with tankers because the area has no fire hydrants.
Sanders said that both houses were a total loss and no one was injured.
It is unclear if the fires are connected.
