On May 11, Job and Family Services will move to Southview Center at 25 Thorpe Road in Dayton. This includes programs such as Food Assistance (SNAP), Cash Assistance, Medical Assistance, Child Care Assistance, Emergency Aid (PRC) for Needy Families, and Adult Protective Services.

As News Center 7 previously reported, the county recently agreed to purchase land at Forest Park in Harrison Township to construct a new Job and Training Center.

The agreement for the land was approved last month, which led the county to enter a 90-day due diligence period. The county expects to close on the property this summer, pending the results of surveys, inspections, and environmental and soil conditions.

Montgomery County Commission President Carolyn Rice said the decision to build a new Job Center is about making sure people “can access the support they need, when they need it.”

“The Forest Park site gives us room to grow and brings us closer to key county services. With Children Services and the Stillwater Center nearby, we can better connect residents to support, stability and job opportunities, making services easier for families to navigate,” Rice added.

Currently, the county leases space from St. Vincent de Paul. From 2016 through 2026, the county will have spent approximately $40.1 million on rent and renovations to the building.

The county says building a new center will allow it to better serve the needs of residents while ensuring sustainable, cost-effective operations.
