ENGLEWOOD — Eric A. Smith is retiring as the Englewood city manager after a 50-year career with the city.

Smith has served the municipality since 1976 in various roles.
Mayor Cathy McGrail spoke about the long-term effect Smith had on the municipality.
“Eric’s impact on this community is immeasurable,” McGrail said. “His steady leadership and dedication have helped make Englewood the strong, well-run city it is today. We are grateful for his service and wish him every happiness in his well-earned retirement.”

Following the retirement announcement, the Englewood City Council began planning for a transition in municipal leadership.
The council hired the Management Advisory Group to conduct a formal search for the city’s next manager.
The firm will work in coordination with city officials during the recruitment process.
The Management Advisory Group will collaborate with the City Council to review candidates.
