DAYTON — A judge set bond at $1 million for a man accused of shooting and killing another man in Dayton last week.

Jayon McFadion, 24, was charged on Monday with murder, felonious assault, and weapons charges, according to Dayton Municipal Court records.

He’s accused of shooting and killing 65-year-old Ellis Lucas on Trenton Street on Aug. 26.
As shown on News Center 7 at 5:00, he made his first court appearance on Monday, where the judge set his bond.
Lucas’s daughter told News Center 7 on Monday that the $1 million bond is not enough.
News Center 7 first spoke to Lucas’s daughter, Jessica Crawford, last week. She said her dad was fatherly not only to her, but also to the community, adding that everyone called him by his nickname, “Country.”
Court documents filed in Dayton Municipal Court on Monday state he was trying to help a woman when an angry ex-boyfriend, later identified as McFadgion, showed up in front of a home on Trenton Street, shooting Lucas in the doorway.
McFadgion remains booked in the Montgomery County Jail. He’s due back in court on Friday.
