SPRINGFIELD — A man is facing attempted murder charges after a shooting in Springfield on New Year’s Eve.

Police were called to the 1800 block of Tibbetts Avenue around 2:50 p.m.
Officers found a woman who had been shot in the head, according to a media release.

The suspect left the scene before officers arrived, but was found less than an hour later.
Caleb Viers, 18, was arrested.
Viers had active warrants for and was charged with attempted murder, felonious assault, and weapons charges.
