NCAA tournament games will be held with fans despite recent coronavirus concerns

The NCAA is planning to run all games with fans in the stands from the First Four in Dayton to the Final Four in Atlanta, said Dan Gavitt NCAA College Basketball Tournament Director.

Recent developments on the coronavirus has some concerned about potential risks regarding large events, but Gavitt says the NCAA has no reason to change plans for the tournament.

“We have an advisory panel in epidemiology and infectious disease that are advising us and we meet on a daily basis,” he said.

A recent D-3 game in Baltimore was played with no fans due to uncertainties about the virus.

“We are keeping the health and well being of student athletes, fans and coaches first and foremost always, but the guidance that were getting right now from our experts is that playing without fans is not called for."
