Taste of winter this weekend

This weekend we will quickly be reminded that winter is indeed not over, said Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini.

Temperatures Friday will soar into the 70s but by Saturday afternoon we will have fallen to the middle 30s. This will be more than a 30-degree drop in about 24 hours.

Gusty winds will be a big part of Saturday which will contribute to the wind chill through the afternoon being about 10 degrees colder than it actually is. Some flurries will be possible as upper-level energy works through during the day and though it won't be much to stick, there may be some reduced visibility because of the wind, Zontini said.

Sunday is expected to be a typical February day which is hard to remember what that feels like. Highs are expected in the low 40s with at least some sunshine in the afternoon.

Temperatures will continue to tumble Saturday night into the low 20s — something we haven't seen since Feb. 16.
