Tecumseh grad makes Major League debut

JT Brubaker struck out 4 Cardinals in a strong debut

It was an impressive day for JT Brubaker. The Springfield native made his major league debut, and it’s one he can feel really good about.

Brubaker is a relief pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He came in to the 6th inning against the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday, and promptly struck out the first batter he faced.

Then he struck out the next batter.

After the game, Brubaker talked about his first major league appearance. “As soon as I stepped on it, it hit me: the adrenaline, the nerves, the excitement, everything that I envisioned growing up through high school, college, then even through the minors. It was everything I’ve envisioned, even without the fans.”

In all, Brubaker pitched two scoreless innings, striking out 4 as the Pirates beat the Cardinals.

Brubaker, 26, is a Tecumseh high alumnus.
