Team Red Scare signs a former Buckeye and NBA First Round pick for this year’s TBT

Kosta Kufos played 12 years in the NBA and is the ninth player signed by Red Scare

DAYTON — The University of Dayton’s alumni basketball team, Team Red Scare, announced Friday that it has signed former Ohio State Buckeye and first round NBA draft pick, Kosta Kufos, to its roster for The Basketball Tournament (TBT).

Kufos is a seven-foot center who played high school basketball in Canton and one year of college ball at Ohio State (2007-2008). He started 35 of 37 games and averaged over 14 points a game in his one season in Columbus. Kufos helped the Buckeyes win the 2008 NIT championship where he was named tournament MVP and declared for the NBA Draft after his freshman season.

Kufos was selected 23rd overall in 2008 by the Utah Jazz and played 11 seasons which included also included stops at Minnesota, Denver, Memphis and Sacramento. He has also played professional ball in Russia and Greece. Kufos signed with the NBA G League in 2021.
