A Dayton woman pleaded guilty to one count of theft today related to the theft of a blind woman’s guide dog.
Bonnie Ritchie was indicted in July by a Montgomery County grand jury on one count of theft from an elderly or disabled person, a fifth-degree felony.
She will be sentenced in two weeks.
Ritchie allegedly took the dog, a purebred Rottweiler named Diamond, on Feb. 17 from the backyard of a North Irwin Street home. Three days later, Ritchie sold the dog, which she advertised for sale on Craigslist, an online classified advertisements website. The buyer called police Feb. 25 after he saw a news story about the theft, according to the prosecutor’s office.
