Mayor Mary McDonald, salon owner, suggested to the food pantry’s director Nicole Adkins that their upcoming distribution focus on beauty industry professionals.
Mayor McDonald was present at the mobile food pantry Saturday.
“With the Salons, Barbershops, Massage Places being forced to close due to COVID-19, a lot of these people are struggling. Most work for themselves so they have been ineligible for unemployment. These people have families to feed just like the rest of us,” said Adkins.
With God’s Grace has seen an increase in families seeking assistance since the onset of COVID-19.
An all time record of families served in one day, 1,242, was set March 6. In April, the pantry distributed food to 9,393 families in the Miami Valley.
There are no zip code or income restrictions to be served at With God’s Grace Mobile Food Pantry.
