Wendy’s ‘Free Frosty’ booklet will make adoptions easier

Wendy’s has launched a fund-raising effort that offers a new option for Halloween treats while also helping children in foster care who are awaiting adoption.

Here’s how it works:

Between now and Oct. 31, all Wendy's restaurants are selling Frosty Coupon Books for $1. Those booklets contain five coupons, each good for one free Jr. Frosty. For every coupon booklet sold, 85 cents will be donated to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption to help find families for children waiting in foster care.

Thomas, the founder of the fast-food chain, was himself adopted at the age of 6 weeks old and became a lifelong advocate for adoption causes until his death in 2002. The non-profit charitable foundation he launched is dedicated to finding permanent homes for the more than 130,000 children waiting in North America’s foster care systems, according to a Wendy’s release.

The Jr. Frosty coupons “would make for a creative handout to Halloween trick-or-treaters in place of, or in addition to, candy,” the release said.
