Tropical Cyclone Debbie is currently touching down across northeast Australia. This is the view from space.

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology says the category 4 cyclone hit the Queensland coast with severe rain.

Officials say flooding is a concern and that there are already downed trees.

At one point, 8 inches of rain fell within the span of an hour, as winds rose to 185 miles per hour.

Tens of thousands of people are without power. Authorities say that the severe weather caused a car to crash that claimed the life of a 31-year-old woman.
