RENO, Nev. — A dental office employee who is unlicensed to perform surgery was arrested after removing 13 teeth from a patient and stealing more than $22,000 from the clinic, investigators said.
Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to an after-hours security alarm at a dentist’s office May 3 to find an open door, a broken window and $22,861 in cash and checks missing, KOLO reported.
Deputies determined Laurel Eich, 42, was a person of interest. Through the course of the investigation they found out she had performed 13 tooth extractions on a patient after she admitted to “multiple people,” including detectives, to performing the procedure, KRON reported.
On Wednesday, Eich was arrested and charged with performing surgery on another without a license, burglary of a business (second offense), grand larceny greater than $5,000 and less than $25,000, three counts of violation of probation or condition of a suspended sentence and conspiracy to commit burglary, according to the sheriff’s office.
