Johnson & Johnson has announced a recall of four Neutrogena and one Aveeno spray-on sunscreens because they have low levels of benzene, a potential cancer-causing chemical in the sprays.
The recall only applies to the following types:
Benzene is not an ingredient in the sprays but it was found in some samples, the company said in a statement. They are investigating how the chemical became present in the sunscreen.
- Neutrogena Beach Defense
- Neutrogena Cool Dry Sport
- Neutrogena Invisible Daily
- Neutrogena Ultra Sheer
- Aveeno Protect + Refresh
All lots of the above products have been recalled, according to the company.
The company said consumers should not use the products and throw them away.
