MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida burglary suspect is facing multiple charges after authorities said he threw a Bible at a Marion County sheriff’s deputy.
According to WCJB and WTSP, the incident occurred Sept. 22 in Ocala. Deputies responded to a reported burglary to find the suspect, Robert Hoskins, 39, clad only in his underwear, the Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
Hoskins, who was “shouting and had his hand behind his back,” revealed he was holding a Bible, raised it over his head and threw it at a deputy, the post read. The book struck the deputy’s face, WCJB reported.
Hoskins, who faces battery on a deputy, burglary, theft and other charges, was booked in the Marion County Jail and later released on $13,000 bond, according to WCJB.
After Hoskins continued to behave aggressively and “ignored all commands to stop,” another deputy deployed his Taser and arrested him, the Sheriff’s Office said.
