GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Actor Bryshere Gray, best known for playing Hakeem Lyon on the show "Empire," was arrested on domestic violence charges Monday in Arizona, authorities said.

According to the Goodyear Police Department, officers responded to a report of a possible domestic assault shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday. The victim, a woman, told authorities that her husband, Gray, had assaulted her at her home in Goodyear.

Gray, 26, faces charges of aggravated assault/domestic violence (impeding breathing), assault and disorderly conduct, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Crews took her to a nearby hospital, where doctors treated her for non-life-threatening injuries, the department said in a Facebook post. She was later discharged.

Officers went to the 176th Street home to try to speak with Gray, who initially refused to comply and stayed inside, according to the post. SWAT and crisis officers also responded during the standoff, which lasted until Gray was arrested after 7 a.m. Monday, the department said.
