MONROE COUNTY, Mich. — Although traffic has been light amid coronavirus stay-at-home orders, Michigan State Police are warning drivers to slow down after one person reportedly was caught going 180 mph on the interstate – a whopping 110 mph over the posted speed limit.
According to MLive.com and WDIV-TV, the incident occurred late April 19 on Interstate 75 in Monroe County, where the speed limit is 70 mph.
In a Tuesday tweet, state troopers shared a photo of the ticket and urged people to drive safely, the news outlets reported.
“MSP wants people to know, just because there is less traffic on the roads & warmer weather, there are no excuses for speeding,” read the post, which was later deleted.
In this case, the driver claimed to be “speeding with another vehicle,” the citation said.
