PORTLAND, Maine — Amid the coronavirus pandemic, a Maine city's annual Memorial Day parade became a one-man show.

Organizers scaled back the event, which usually features marching bands and throngs of onlookers, to comply with social-distancing measures, WMTW reported .
Read More According to the Portland Press Herald , a lone veteran, 62-year-old retired Army Sgt. Richard Cobb, marched in Portland's parade Monday, accompanied only by the American flag he carried and two police escorts.

Cobb, a Bronze Star recipient who served in Iraq, carried the flag to Monument Square, where he laid a wreath as about 30 people looked on, the news outlets reported.
