Disney’s parks division has donated 150,000 rain ponchos and 100,000 N95 face masks to help protect health care workers during the coronavirus pandemic, officials said Wednesday.

“The idea was inspired by nurses across the country who inventively found that rain ponchos can be an excellent way to protect their clothing and prolong the use of PPE (personal protective equipment), while also freeing up gowns when needed,” the announcement said.
According to the Disney Parks Blog, the division gave the ponchos to MedShare, a nonprofit humanitarian aid group that will provide the supplies to hospitals.

Disney Parks also gave 100,000 N95 masks, which have been in short supply, to New York, Florida and California, according to the blog post.

As of Thursday morning, New York had reported more than 84,000 coronavirus cases, making up nearly 40% of the cases in the United States, Johns Hopkins University reported. Meanwhile, Florida, where Walt Disney World is located, logged more than 7,700 confirmed cases of the virus. California, home to Disneyland, reported more than 9,900 cases.
