2-year-old boy found dead in hot car in Louisiana

IBERIA PARISH, La. — Deputies are investigating after a toddler was found dead in a hot car Monday in Louisiana, authorities said.

According to KLFY and WBRZ, Iberia Parish sheriff’s deputies responded to Fox Road about 2 p.m. after receiving a report of a medical emergency. Crews arrived to find a 2-year-old boy who had been left alone inside a car as outdoor temperatures climbed to 91 degrees, the news outlets reported. The Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead, authorities said.

The incident marks the state’s first hot car death of the year, according to KidsAndCars.org.

Deputies believe the child had been inside the vehicle for about two hours, WBRZ reported. No further information about the incident was immediately available.
