Thief nabs $20K in property from medical construction site

MIDDLETOWN — Police here are investigating the theft of about $20,000 worth of tools and property from a construction site.

Around 8 a.m. Wednesday, Middletown police met with a project manager from Danis Construction at the site of a medical facility under construction in the 6000 block of Ohio 122, just east of the Interstate 75 and Ohio 122 interchange, according to the police report.

Sometime between 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, a lock on one of three gates to the Kettering Health Network construction site was cut off.

An unknown suspect broke into three of six outside storage units on the site.

In total, about $20,000 worth of tools and equipment was stolen, including 7,500 feet of coded electrical wiring valued at $10,000; copper water piping; electrical extension cords; and multiple grinders and reciprocating saws, according to the police report.
