Strange lights across Miami Valley Sunday night sky

MIAMI VALLEY — Many viewers called and wrote in Sunday night, reporting sightings of lights in the sky.

“No, it is not E.T. phoning home and not a Close Encounter of the third kind,” Storm Center 7′s meteorologist Dontae Jones said.

The lights are actually a string of satellites called Starlink. Starlink is a satellite constellation being constructed by SpaceX to provide satellite internet access.

The constellation will consist of thousands of mass-produced small satellites in low Earth orbit, working in combination with ground transceivers.
