Ohio covers funeral costs for Pike County murder victims

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office has said the state will cover the cost of Dana Rhoden’s funeral — about $7,500, according to our news partner WCPO.

The Cincinnati television station reports Rhoden’s mother, Judy Manley, filed the claim for funeral expenses.

The Associated Press reports a Dec. 12 request to the Ohio Victims of Crime Compensation Program was made by the family of Dana Rhoden.

Payments of $22,500 from the fund were previously approved to pay for funerals for the Rhodens' children: 20-year-old Clarence "Frankie" Rhoden, 19-year-old Hanna Rhoden and 16-year-old Christopher Rhoden Jr., according to a AP report.

request for victim compensation from the brother-in-law of one of the victims was turned down by the state of Ohio because of evidence of a marijuana growing operation at the crime scene.

David Weisel, brother-in-law to Christopher Rhoden Sr., applied in May 2016 to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office to be reimbursed for lost wages.

Eight members of the Rhoden family were found shot to death in their homes on April 22.

Christopher Rhoden Sr.'s ex-wife, 37-year-old Dana Rhoden; their three children, 20-year-old Clarence "Frankie" Rhoden, 16-year-old Christopher Rhoden Jr. and 19-year-old Hanna Rhoden; Frankie Rhoden's fiancée, 20-year-old Hannah Gilley; and a cousin, 38-year-old Gary Rhoden.

No arrests have been made in the Ohio shooting investigation of eight execution-style killings of members of the Rhoden family in Pike County, Ohio.

Large-scale marijuana grow operations were discovered at three of the four murder scenes.
