LICKING COUNTY, Ohio — A state trooper investigating a crash on I-70 east of Columbus was hit by a car and suffered serious injuries late Thursday night.

Trooper Austin D. Crow was hit by the car around 11:20 p.m. on I-70, about 30 miles east of Columbus, according to our news partners at WBNS-TV.

Crow was outside his cruiser investigating multiple incidents previously reported on the highway when he was hit, the station reports. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Columbus hospital in stable condition, the station reports.
The first incident was reported around 9:30 p.m. when state troopers were called to a report of a broken-down U-Haul vehicle. About 20 minutes later a two-vehicle crash was reported in the same area, the station reports. Tow trucks were called to the scene after the incidents.
Just after 11:20 p.m., a semitrailer was heading west on I-70 and attempted to change lanes but hit another vehicle and a tow truck on the scene. The tow truck was sent into the vehicles that crashed earlier, the U-Haul, and then hit Crow, WBNS-TV reports.
One minor injury was reported by another driver involved in the crash.
