Springfield police are investigating after a dog was stolen from the Clark County SPCA.

It happened sometime between 7:45 a.m. and 8: 10 a.m. May 10 at 21 Walter Street, Springfield.

The employee told police she had put 9-month-old Ziek, a red heeler cattle  dog, in an outside kennel to eat his breakfast. While she tended to other animals inside, Ziek was stolen.

There was also damage reported to a locking latch on an outside kennel. The shelter director said the kennel door had been kicked in and the padlock was still on the outside.

The dog is valued at $120, according to the police report. There was already a family lined up for the adoption.

Ziek is described as speckled brown and white with a blue face and blue tipped tale. If seen, call 937-925-6602 or 937-324-7680.

The shelter director said a second dog in a nearby kennel outside was found cowering in fright in the corner.
