COLUMBUS — Protesters forced their way into the Columbus Police Headquarters Tuesday night, according to our news partners at WBNS-TV.
Earlier reports say members of the group were at Mayme Moore Park at a vigil for those who died by law enforcement.
After the vigil, about 50 demonstrators gathered out front of the police headquarters.
The event was peaceful until the group came back to the headquarters, Columbus Divison of Police Sgt. James Fuqua said.
The group became aggressive and started to pull on the locked doors of the building.
They broke into the first set of doors and then police asked demonstrators to leave the building.
Officers used pepper spray on the protesting people.
Fuqua also says at least one officer was pepper-sprayed.
People told WBNS-TV they were hit with the spray.
The front door of the building was damaged, police said.
No injuries have been reported but Fuqua said one person has been detained.
