No problems reported with tighter security at Fraze

UPDATE @ 7:55 p.m.

With the Fraze Pavilion’s new security measures enacted ahead of tonight’s Lady Antebellum concert, so far only one person was turned away for wearing a backpack.

Waist packs, purses and other bags cannot be more than 12 inches long, 12 inches wide or 6 inches deep. Most concertgoers appeared to be carrying small purses.

FIRST REPORT

Planning to go to the Lady Antebellum show tonight at the Fraze Pavilion? you’ll have to leave any large bags and purses at home or in the car.

Concert goers who follow the venue's Facebook page may have seen the post, which states that backpacks, waist packs and large purses "will not be allowed into the facility beginning today."

Bag sizes should not exceed 12 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 6 inches deep, according to the post.

Previously, Fraze ushers checked bags that people were bringing in.

Fraze Pavilion General Manager Karen Durham said the change mirrors security measures that are widely practiced at other event venues and have become the “industry standard.”

Durham said some artists are requesting heightened security at their shows, adding that recent incidents, such as the June 10 fatal shooting of singer Christina Grimmie after a show in Orlando, is prompting the security changes.

“There have been a lot of incidents across the country,” Durham said. “We want to do what’s best for our ticket buyers, the community and the artists.”

The Fraze is celebrating its 25th anniversary this season.

The Lady Antebellum show starts with the opening act, Ryan Kinder, taking the stage at 7:30 p.m.
