Vance will replace GOP Sen. Rob Portman.

He is a native of Middletown, Ohio, who received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University. He went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps, before receiving his law degree from Yale, and then became an investor in Silicon Valley.

Vance won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate on May 3.
