Overdose deaths causing overcrowding at coroner’s facility

Area coroner’s offices are reporting overcrowding, and officials are citing rising numbers of fatal drug overdoses.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office is starting to redesign the inside of its cooler to extend the size of the freezer into one of the garages. They say this will allow for more short-term storage.

Montgomery County did not have the coroner’s office redesign in its original budget, but has added it as a direct response to the rate of overdoses.
