Super Bowl flyover to feature all-women Navy aviation team for first time

This year’s Super Bowl flyover will be the first of its kind, featuring A U.S. Navy aviation team of seven women to commemorate 50 years since women were allowed to become Navy pilots.

The service will conduct the flyover over State Farm Stadium during the national anthem with the all-women team as part of the formation, according to the Navy.

Eight women made history in 1973 when they became the first women to enter the U.S. Navy’s flight school, and six earned their wings — becoming “The First Six.”

For aviation enthusiasts, the flyover formation will include two F/A-18F Super Hornets, an F-35C Lightning II and an EA-18G Growler.
