At least 9 shot near arena Denver Nuggets won historic NBA championship; Several critical

DENVER, COLORADO — At least nine people were shot during an alteration in downtown Denver shortly following the city’s unprecedented NBA win.

At least nine people were shot near Ball Arena on Market Street where the Denver Nuggets won the NBA championship, the first in the team’s history.

Thousands reportedly poured out into the streets around the arena after the game to celebrate.

Following the shooting, Denver Police were dispatched to the area where they found three people in critical condition, a spokesperson for the law enforcement agency said in a Twitter post.

Police also noted that the shooting suspect was also shot during the altercation.

Although at least nine were shot, with three in critical condition, none of the injured had life-threatening injuries, the spokesperson continued.

The shooting suspect was taken into custody.

Denver Police continued to investigate the ongoing shooting incident, stating that event was “complex.”
