RICHMOND — When Richmond Police Officer Seara Burton was shot in the line of duty in August, many people in the community wanted to show their support for her family and the Richmond Police Department.
“Seara brought the entire community together in a tragic way,” Doug Borasdorf with Primex Design and Fabrication said. “But we can’t forget.”
Primex Design and Fabrication in Richmond made 4,100 yard signs that were placed all over town during her hospital and hospice stays, as well as printed pictures for her funeral services last week.
The signs included a picture of Burton and her k9 partner in front of the thin blue line flag with the “Pray for Seara” message written at the bottom.
Primex is now collecting the signs they made in order to donate two murals to Burton’s family and the police department.
The old signs will be shredded and turned into plastic pellets to make new canvases for the murals.

One large mural will hang at the Richmond Police and Fire Training Center and a smaller one will be given to Burton’s family.
People who want to donate their sign have until October 14th to drop them off in the bins outside of Primex located at 400 Industrial Parkway in Richmond.
“The more we get back, the larger we can make the mural,” Borasdorf said.
