A man arrested earlier this year for firing multiple shots in the city and injuring a six-year-old child was sentenced to 11 years in prison for felonious assault with a firearm.
Akeem Freeman pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of felonious assault, domestic violence and improper use of a firearm, according to court documents, in April.
Freeman fired several shots at a woman’s car on Kentucky Avenue March 30, police said, and one of the shots hit a 6-year-old in the hand. Freeman was a suspect in multiple cases, according to the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office.
Freeman was convicted of two counts of felonious assault with a firearm specification and will serve the five- and six-year sentences consecutively for a total of 11 years in prison.
