XENIA — In less than a month, we should know more about the plans to redevelop the Xenia Towne Square—located in the heart of the city.

When Fulmer and K-Mart left years ago, only a few businesses stayed put on the 15 and a half acres.

Steve Brodsky, the city’s development director, says that after years of legal wrangling, the city now owns and controls the properties on most of the land. On February 3rd, a plan to redevelop Xenia Towne Square will be presented to the city’s planning and zoning commission for approval.

“We’re going to start on the eastern side and move toward the west. you’ll see a combination of some housing, town homes, both for rent and sale. some apartments as well as restaurants and retail,” Brodsky said.

The project will be done in phases, and right now, Brodsky tells News Center 7 it could cost as much as 120-million dollars.

If it’s approved, Brodsky said some of the businesses you’re used to seeing might move.

“We want to retain them because they’re good businesses but some we may look to relocated. some have said we love what you’re doing but we may not fit so they’ll be the ones willing to relocate,” Brodsky said.

Brodsky would not confirm which businesses might move, but did say if the plan is approved on February 3rd, dirt could be moving by the end of the year.
