WPAFB commander declares public health emergency

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base officials declared a Public Health Emergency on Friday.

Col. Patrick Miller, 88th Air Base Wing and installation commander, announced that the decision is in response to an increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.

“This decision reflects the next phase in this evolving COVID environment, including the increase in new COVID cases and hospitalizations in the surrounding counties.” Miller said.

On Friday, Ohio reported 4,855 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Additionally, there were also 165 new hospitalizations reported in the last 24 hours.
