25-year-old woman shot, killed in Urbana; Suspect in custody

URBANA — A 25-year-old woman is dead and a man is in custody after a shooting in Urbana Saturday night.

Just before 9:30 p.m. Urbana fire and police were called to an apartment in the 100 block of South Main Street to reports of a woman shot.

When officers arrived they found Kaden Harkins, 25, dead, according to Urbana Police Division.

Jamie King, 30, who lived in the apartment with Harkins was taken into custody.

Sunday morning King was charged with murder and having a weapon while under disability.

King was booked into Tri-County Jail on a $510,000 bond pending his initial court appearance in court Monday, police said.

Due to the “serious nature” of the crime, Urbana police asked the Ohio Beauru of Criminal Investigations to assist with the investigation.
