Update at 8:04 a.m. ET, June 16:
Several fire departments across Montgomery County were dispatched to a single-story house in the 200 block of Foothill Drive on reports of a person trapped inside a burning building, dispatchers and first responders communicated over emergency scanners.
When firefighters arrived, they found two people trapped in the house requiring rescue, Brookville Fire Chief Ronald Fletcher told News Center 7 Reporter Taylor Robertson.
Firefighters initially could not open the door to the residence because of the heavy smoke emanating from it. But, they were able to eventually save the two people, one confirmed to be a woman in her mid 50s.
Emergency care was conducted at the front yard, which included CPR and advanced life supporting medication that helped against cyanide poisoning. Cyanide poisoning was often seen in people who inhaled too much smoke during a fire.
One dog and several cats were saved as well.
Fletcher stated that the call initially came from a neighbor who heard someone from the burning building calling out for help.
During the investigation of the fire, firefighters were able to determine where the fire started, but did not disclose the information to Robertson.
The interior of the house was heavily damage in the fire, unlike the exterior. However, the house was in a repairable state.
The fire chief heeded residents to always check their smoke detectors to give ample warning of any dangers in the home such as an active fire.

Dispatchers also told firefighters that there were reports of the house containing several animals. However, it is currently unknown if any animals had to be rescued from the house fire.
The house emanated heavy smoke as firefighters first arrived, according to emergency scanners. They then upgraded the call to a working fire.
Firefighters seemingly were able to extinguish the fire within 30 minutes of arriving at the scene.
