TIPP CITY - A Tipp City woman accused of stealing more than $35,000 worth of gold and silver from the kitchen cabinets of a Troy residence pleaded no contest to felony grand theft Monday in Miami County Common Pleas Court.
Sara K. Keeton, 25, was found guilty. She was accused of taking coins and other gold and silver from a Troy resident between May and September 2016 and selling the stolen items at different locations around the area.

Troy police said they were called to a Troy apartment by a man who said he was in the process of moving when he discovered the silver and gold items were gone. He said he kept the items in with his pots and pans and was not aware anyone knew they were there, according to the report.
The man said he had 1,500 ounces of silver and 3 ounces of gold. The silver was in coins, silver bars and silver rounds while the gold was in coins. The total value was listed as $36,541.

After the plea, Keeton was released on her own recognizance on the condition she follows a curfew and have no contact with the victim.
Her sentencing was scheduled for May 30.
