Rescues underway after motorists drive through high water

Crews have been called to at least two water rescues this morning after motorists became trapped in high water on closed roads.

HUBER HEIGHTS

A water rescue is currently underway as of 7:27 a.m. on Rip Rap Road near Chambersburg in Huber Heights.

A car became trapped in high water, according to reports.

Authorities said the road is closed due to high water after Tuesday’s storms.

CLARK COUNTY

A woman who drove around a road closed sign and a family member who came to her aid both had to be rescued when they became trapped in high water early Wednesday morning.

The rescue happened on Lower Valley Pike, east of Old Mill Road, around 3 a.m. Both were being checked by medics on the scene and are expected to be okay. Initial reports indicated both were being checked for hypothermia.

It’s unknown if any citations will be issued.
