The Greene County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Circle K in the 600 block of Orchard Lane around 6 a.m. on reports of a vehicle that crashed and subsequently damaged the building, dispatchers for the county said.

Dispatch records indicate the semi was from UPS, however deputies on scene were not able to say where the truck was from.

Upon investigation, a driver crashed a semitrailer into the Circle K and drove away from the scene, Greene County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Sean Kessel told News Center 7 Reporter Taylor Robertson.

Security footage showed the semi fleeing from the scene; however, it did not depict the impact, Kessel continued.

Deputies reported the commercial vehicle was carrying a double trailer and sustained damage following the crash. The truck was also last seen heading eastbound on U.S. Route 35.

This particular Circle K was well known to be busy during the mornings, especially in the parking lot area, Kessel said. While it was busy at the time, no one was injured during the crash.

A Greene County building inspector was also called to the scene to check the integrity of the structure. The inspector concluded that the building was safe for customers and employees to return to.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation into the crash.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 937-376-5111.
