News Center 7 previously reported that crews were called to a house fire in the 500 block of Alaska Street around 5:30 p.m.
First firefighters reported two houses were “well-involved” and one of the houses was fully engulfed in flames, Dayton Fire District Chief Mike Fasnacht previously told News Center 7.

A fire investigator reported that recreational fires in the backyard of a house under renovation caused the initial ignition.
“The vapors from the paint caused a rapid reaction to the fire, causing a large fire in a short period of time,” he said.

The fire spread to the house on the right, causing heavy damage and “total losses,” a Dayton fire spokesperson told News Center 7 in an emailed statement Tuesday.
Investigators are still assessing the damage to the house, but the spokesperson confirmed that two houses were destroyed and the neighboring house on the left sustained external damage with no damage to its interiors.

There were no reported injuries. However, 10 people living in the right neighboring house were displaced after their home burned down. The Red Cross is assisting the people displaced in the fire.
Officials also believed pets were inside the houses that burned. However, the status of their whereabouts were still unknown.
Dayton Fire Department warns that “unattended fires can quickly grow in size and can spread to nearby objects and structures due to the current dry, windy conditions.”
