Trotwood police cruiser catches fire; It’s a total loss

UPDATE @ 9:40 p.m.: The police cruiser is a total loss and the officer who was in it said he was walking away, on a traffic stop, and turned to see smoke coming from the vehicle, Trotwood Sgt. Brandon Holbrook said.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, but police think it may have started in the area of the dashboard.

Holbrook said he isn’t sure of the replacement cost of the cruiser.

A Trotwood police cruiser caught fire in the area of Olive Road and Trotwood Boulevard and firefighters are trying to determine what caused it.

The dispatch was made about 9:10 p.m. There are no reports of any injury.
