TROTWOOD — The City of Trotwood will be hosting an expression contest next month for students in the city in recognition of Black History Month.
Students in grades 3-12 from all schools in Trotwood are encouraged to submit original works inspired by the theme “Black History is World History.”
Participants will be able to submit an original essay, spoken word, a work of art, musical selection, or any other form of communication and expression of their desire inspired by the theme, according to a post on Trotwood’s Facebook.

Contestants will be separated into three groups, 3rd - 5th grade, 6th – 8th grade, and 9th – 12th grade.
There will be three winners from each group:
1st place: $75
2nd place: $50
3rd place: $25
Students must email their entries to Parks and Recreation Marketing Coordinator Charles Wheeler III, at chwheeler@trotwood.org, by Friday, February 17.
The original works must include the student’s name, grade, school, and parents’ contact information.
