Teen youth summit taking place today at Sinclair Community College

DAYTON — The City of Dayton will be hosting a Teen Youth Summit today.

Dayton Mayor Jeffrey Mims, Jr. will bring students from across Dayton High Schools to the Sinclair Community College Conference Center on W. Third Street from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., according to a City of Dayton spokesperson.

The purpose is to, “inform, inspire and empower,” the students and prepare them for the future.

Areas of focus will include mental health, purpose and passion, civic engagement and mentorship, the City said in a news release.

The keynote speaker will be Josh Copeland, founder of Learning 2Cope and former Fairborn High School athlete.

Additional speakers include State Representative Willis Blackshear, Jane McEwen of Mentoring Collaborative, Lavar Glover of the Dayton Chamber of Commerce and Shawnieka Pope, clinical professor at Miami University.
