Teen indicted in brother’s shooting death

Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck, Jr., said an 18-year-old has been indicted in connection with the shooting death of his brother.

Gregory Lamar Patrick-Brooks, 18, is accused of shooting his brother, 17-year-old Jajuan Olden, Jr. The shooting happened on July 26. He was charged with reckless homicide.

According to investigators, it was determined through witness statements that Patrick-Brooks was playing carelessly with a gun when his brother was shot.

Officers in Dayton said they were called to an apartment in the 600 block of Rockford Ave. The call came in as a report that a person had been shot. Officers arrived and found Olden, Jr. with a gunshot to the chest.

Prosecutors said the charge includes a 3-year firearm specification.

Dayton Police currently have a warrant for Patrick-Brooks’ arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court Tuesday morning.
